nameless

I still recall that bleak December night.
A dreary night of cold, lethargic rain.
My uncle whittled with a wooden cane.
My grandma knitted under candlelight.
He glanced towards her. “She will smile so bright.”
Tomorrow was the birthday of Lorraine.
My grandpa always baked her loaves of grain.
The room was lit by fiery anthracite.
I saw your letter on my newest play.
I long adored your annual radio fest.
My mind was stunned; it spun in disarray.
To think that you would send me a friend request.
And afterwards, we conversed every day;
Of all my friends, you truly were the best.

  • Hi! I’m Lyra. I had a thought about your poetry some poems carry such strong emotions, imagery, or atmosphere that they could work beautifully as visual artwork too, rather than staying only as written pieces. I’m a commission-based artist with around 3 years of experience, and I create illustrations based on ideas and writing. I’d love to turn one of your poems into artwork, whether that’s an illustrated scene, symbolic piece, or even a visual format you could share to promote your poetry and reach more readers. If that sounds interesting, I’d be happy to show you my portfolio.  You can contact me via mail: contact.lilaclines@gmail.com insta: _lilac_lines_
